But Midwest’s most fervent and insatiable music fans beg for a blend of the flavors offered at these fests, and at gatherings from Indio, California to Brooklyn, New York. Enter “Summers Last Stand,” the inaugural North Coast Music Festival, descending upon Union Park in Chicago, IL this Labor Day Weekend! From September 3rd-5th, Chicago’s favorite independent producers and worthwhile charities welcome the world’s electronic, house, jamband, indie, and hip-hop communities to Union Park for a lineup that continues to grow. 3 Days, 35+ bands, for $35/day. For those of you have never heard of Paul Kalkbrenner, you need to get familiar with him. He is blowing up right now and producing some big tracks. Starting as a trumpet player and studying music theory, Paul Kalkbrenner later switched to electronic music. In 1999 he released his first tracks under the name of Paul dB+. As a live act, he performs using Ableton Live in combination with midi controllers and hardware synthesizers. In 2008 he composed the sound track for the German movie Berlin Calling in which he also is the leading actor. The theme song Sky And Sand, featuring his brother Fritz Kalkbrenner ended up in various European charts.
