Somehow, JET manages to pull off the impossible – it provides both an intimate lounge atmosphere and a big-party vibe all under one roof.
The 15,000-square-foot nightclub, brought to life at the Mirage resort by the nightlife experts of the Light Group, is able to deliver a multi-sensory experience thanks to its three distinctive rooms, each one featuring a different DJ, musical style and atmosphere.
Guests are welcomed into this den of debauchery via an angular, bending hall, lit by votive candles that rest on the walls' inset shelves. The hall opens into the always-packed main room, a massive rectangular area whose sunken-in dance floor is flanked by two long bars.
Designed by acclaimed architect Jeffrey Beers, JET is loaded with cutting-edge design elements and meticulous attention is paid to every detail.
Using the latest technology available, JET rockets into a class of its own, perhaps most breathtakingly with the dozens of video screens embedded into the ceiling of the main room that allow for the display of one composite or multiple images above partygoers. The club also features a unique light and laser grid, state-of-the-art cryogenic effects and unparalleled sound design, whose effects can truly be felt in all areas of the club's main dance floor.
JET's other rooms each have their own personalities. The house room is decorated in subtle earth tones, with cushioned walls, hardwood floors and decorative draperies. The DJ booth is centered against a wall on one side of the room, allowing DJs to stay eye-level with clubbers, truly providing an interactive experience. To further that vibe, the club often features a live percussionist in this intimate, typically less-crowded room.
Located on the other side of the club, the rock room features mash-ups, '80s dance music and more. Slightly larger than the house room, this area features subdued, amber lighting, red-tiled columns and bar accents, and dancer platforms behind the VIP seats that line the walls.
Each of the two side rooms features its own bar, and European bottle service is available in all areas of JET. Service is ultra-attentive and the servers are as friendly as they are attractive. While the male staff wears modest black button-down shirts and pants, female servers not only sport low-cut black dresses, but also occasionally make their way to platforms to dance to the music.
Despite the booming volume of the hip-hop (and on special nights, house music) coming from the main room, the sounds do not bleed through from one room to another, even though they are only separated by long, red curtains.
All of this makes JET a near-perfect nightclub experience, no matter what might be one's musical taste or attention span.
