Ten years ago, Daniel Denile created his hip hop moniker MF DOOM and released his first full length release Operation: Doomsday. Since then the artist and producer has evolved into one of hiphop’s most conceptually creative artists and lyricists of the past decade. DOOM (whose hip hop moniker was inspired by Marvel Comics supervillian Doctor Doom) soon gained mainstream recognition through successful collaborations with other innovative hip hop artists. In 2004, his Madvillain project with Madlib on the release of Madvillainy lead to commercial success and was well received by the national media. His next collaboration with Danger Mouse in 2005 as Danger Doom on The Mouse of The Mask continued his growing influence in the hip hop community. In 2009 he released his fourth solo album Born Like This as DOOM. The album features vocals from Ghostface & Raekwon, production by J.Dilla and an upcoming EP featuring official remixes of “Gazzillion Ears” by artists including Thom Yorke and Kanye West.

Last year influential hip hop artist Mos Def publicly praised DOOM on his lyrical and musical talent through various video interviews for hip hop press. No stranger to the underground hip hop scene himself, his debut collaboration with Talib Kweli as Black Star and the release of his seminal debut Black on Both Sides put him instantly on the hip hop map. A decade later, Mos Def released his fourth studio album The Ecstatic in 2009. The album debuted at #9 on the Billboard charts and is nominated for a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album.

DOOM and Mos Def have recently announced three North American tourdates together including a date in Chicago at the Congress Theater on Saturday, Feb 13th, 2010.
