Basement Jaxx returns to Chicago for a massive event!

jaxx_090909_front_webIn 1999, Basement Jaxx made their mark on the electronic music scene with the release of their debut album Remedy. Ten years later after releasing a series of extremely catchy international dance hits like “Rendez-vous” & “Where’s Your Head At?”, the Brixton duo have returned with their fifth studio album, Scars.  The album features guest appearances by artists including Yoko Ono, Kelis, and Santigold.  They’ll be heading out on a very brief 5 date North American DJ tour this fall where you’ll be able to catch them here in Chicago at the Congress Theater on Friday, November 6, 2009.

Also on the bill are MSTRKRFT (formerly part of one of the best unfortunately shortlived bands to exist: Death From Above 1979).  MSTRKRFT are known for creating electro punk remixes for many indie bands including Bloc Party, Justice and the Kills, as well as producing their own excellent singles such as “Easy Love” and “Street Justice”.  Most recently they’ve released their second studio album Fist of God featuring artists including Freeway, Ghostface Killah and John Legend.

Opening up the show are Modeselektor.  Based in Berlin and signed to Ellen Allien’s techno label, BPitch Control, the duo  started receiving lots of attention after landing an opening slot on Radiohead’s 2008 Japanese tour (they are known to be one of Thom Yorke’s recent favorite artists). Check them out together on the track: “The White Flash”.

Tickets are on sale now for the show  on Friday, November 6, 2009 at Congress Theater.  For more details and to buy your tickets visit: www.clubtix.com.
